Reba Talks about Malibu Country

Reba-McEntire-headshotReba McEntire went beyond her country music fame and entered prime time TV to great success with her hit show Reba. Her show ran from 2001 – 2007 and she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series in the category of Musical/Comedy.    

Reba has again returned to TV with her new show Malibu Country.  Demonstrating country music’s popularity, Malibu Country is yet another country music themed show appearing in the prime time TV line up – Nashville, being the other one.  Both shows are on ABC.

Carrie Underwood to Star in Sound of Music

Carrie_UnderwoodThe Tennessee hills are alive with the sound of some great news for country music, NBC just announced that Carrie Underwood will star as Maria von Trapp in it’s live version of The Sound of Music.  Internationally famous as both a Movie and a Broadway musical, The Sound of Music features the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein.  Some of the popular songs include:  “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Edelweiss” and “So Long, Farewell.”

Since winning the fourth season of “American Idol,” Carrier Underwood went on to country music stardom selling over 15 million albums, achieving 16 number 1 singles, and winning five Grammys.

Now, with the iconic role of Maria von Trapp, Carrie will broaden her stardom all the more.  Considering that she has had limited acting exposure (Carrie had a small part in the 2011 film Soul Surfer) it is quite an accomplishment.  Undoubtedly, it will be a challenge overcoming the forthcoming comparison to Julie Andrews who starred as Maria von Trapp in the 1965 movie that won an Academy Award for best picture.Carrie Underwood in Soul Surfer

Jana Kramer to Perform at 2013 New Faces Show

jana_kramer_inwhiteNewcomer country music artist Jana Kramer is set to perform at the 2013 Country Radio Seminar New Faces of Country Music Show® in Nashville, TN.  The show will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Nashville Convention Center.

Although Jana is relatively new on the scene as a country music artist, she has had various movie and television roles, including playing Alex Dupre on One Tree Hill.

The  New Faces of Country Music Show® wraps up the three day Country Radio Seminar.  The normally sold out show is designed to introduced new and up & coming artists.  Also appearing with Jana are Easton Corbin, Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, and Kip Moore.

Shania_Twain_appearing in VegasShania Twain will be appearing in Las Vegas starting December 1, 2012 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.  Her show promising a promenade of all her many hits is called  Shania: Still The One, and is currently schedule to run for two years.

Remind me who can both play and sing hot licks!  Remind me of the female singer who sings strong yet sweet, but you don’t have to remind me who has some of the sexiest legs in country music!  Together Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood pull off a great country music duet.
