Marshall always had the knack of getting just the right people for his videos.
Randy Dorman As for the guitarist, none other could be better than producer and actual accomplished guitarist, Randy Dorman. He never missed a note and plays the part perfectly with the ability to support Marshall, while only drawing attention to himself at just the right times with dramatic actions.
Mary and Raymond Stevenson Marshall had a very close relationship with his mother. He called her at 7 o’clock every morning. Known for her baked goods, a constant blue ribbon winner, Marshall wrote a song about her on for his first album, Against The Law, called Miss Mary (The Bakin’ Machine). “Mamma Law” as she was also proudly known, appeared in his very first video pointing her finger at him in a scolding way – which he often needed.
Marshall’s father was a preacher (making Marshall a “PK”, yep!) who passed away of lung cancer before Marshall recorded his first album. His mother later married Raymond Stevenson. The two started out as “fishing buddies.” Raymond was a perfect gentlemen and Marshall was so happy for his mother! Liking Raymond so much, Marshall asked if he could call him dad – Raymond was flattered and happy with that. Sadly, Raymond passed away June 3, 2013, just months after Marshall.
Taylor Bugos It was known to all that Marshall had a real fondness for the “ladies” for himself or as “eye candy”. The beautiful brunette, Taylor Bugos, made her first appearance with Marshall on the cover of his last album Anything For You. It took this video to finally work her face into the act. Taylor recently got the lead role in My Many Sons, as the daughter of famed college basketball coach, Don Meyer.
Tina? As for the attractive blond that plays Marshall’s love interest in the video, Marshall had this footage shot himself and it actually never came up who she is. We have some clues and would love to give her credit. Her first name is believed to be Tina. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Noah and Maddie Brewer On stage and in videos, kids (and animals – sometimes one in the same) tend to steal the show, especially when they’re as cute as the two in the Anything For You video. The two kids are Noah and Maddie Brewer, the grand children of proud grandparents Ann & Randy Dorman. Off camera it took many takes to get that scene just right, plus a half packet of Jolly Ranchers to get Noah to kiss his little sister…
How it came to be…
Upon hearing the song from Marshall, friend and director MacDonald fell in love with it. He offered Marshall a music video of the song to appear exclusively on NSV. Marshall was excited about the opportunity and agreed. Coincidently, it was right around the time NSV was shooting a mini Western/Music Video starring Marshall. As a side note, the Western/Music Video is in post production and will be released at the beginning of the year.
Director MacDonald recalls events surrounding the video:
I am not sure where the concept came from? It was much like a songwriter describing a song that just flowed out “writing itself.” I liked the song immediately and still never get tired of hearing it. Randy’s (Dorman) guitar playing and production is perfect too! Many producers may have tried to “over produce” a song like this, but Randy nailed it with inspirational guitar playing that complimented Marshall’s soulful “bare vocals” – no backup singers.
…I knew it needed a video. In listening to the song, I just started imagining things, making torches, seeing visions in my head, and so forth listening to the song over and over. The idea came up to shoot it at Randy and Annie’s “Scenic Ridge” which worked perfectly.
No more than a day before the shoot, maybe even on the way there, I had this idea where Marshall would appear and reappear in various places in the scene. I staged and shot portions of the video this way to edit for this effect later. It occurs in various spots, but you can see this in the beginning when Marshall makes his opening appearance.
Now, with Marshall’s passing, it seems a little eery, at least to me, as if his spirit walks in and out of the video. Artistically, this makes sense because his spirit clearly is in the video…
The Future of Marshall’s Music and Videos
Prior to his passing, Marshall gave the mechanical rights (right to reproduce) to all his music, with the exception of his final Album, to Robert MacDonald, requesting his music be continued.
Marshall also wanted producer Randy Dorman who produced Marshall’s last album Anything For You, and MacDonald to partner on a Best of Marshall Law album using songs from all albums.
In keeping with that spirit, Marshall’s first Album: Against The Law, which is rare and long out of print, has been digitally remastered and is available now. $5.99.

The other albums, singles, and The Best of Marshall Law will follow over time.
To all who knew him, or spent time around him, know what a friend he was to cameras (probably even more so than to the ladies). Therefore, it should come as no surprise that in the vaults of VMI resides a wealth of never before seen footage, including live concert performances, music videos, and bloopers which will eventually all make their way here on NSV, as well as seeing him in his starring role as who else but “the Marshall” in the Nashville StarVision Western short movie/music video to be released early next year.
